Synthetic Drugs: Hungary Is Sitting On A Ticking Time Bomb

The recent disturbing rise in the consumption of cheap and unregulated substances known as “designer drugs”, which have recetly resulted in several deaths across the country, could mean that Hungary is sitting on a ticking time bomb and the country is on the edge of a new type of public health crisis, journalist Csaba Lukács writes in the daily newspaper Magyar Nemzet.

This year’s MasterCard Balaton Sound attracted the same record number of visitors as it did last year. A total of 145 000 fans from almost 60 countries came together to celebrate at the sunny shores of Lake Balaton. The Hungarian-born American art collector Imre Pákh told MTI he will not take measures to remove Mihály Munkácsy’s monumental painting “Golgotha” from a Debrecen gallery until the end of the summer. Earlier, Pákh said the painting would be removed from the Déri Museum on June 25, after talks on its sale to the state of Hungary reached an impasse.
