The National Agriculture and Food Exhibition (Országos Mezőgazdasági és Élelmiszeripari Kiállítás, in short OMÉK), which is the biggest agricultural exhibition in Hungary, has a long running tradition that goes back to more than 100 years. The 77th OMÉK is open for the visitors between 23 September and 27 September 2015 in the Hungexpo Budapest Fair Center.

Last weekend marked the annual National Gallop on Budapest’s Heroes’ Square as one of the city’s main attractions was taken over by jockeys and horses. At the end it was János Németh from the Southern town of Baja who won the finals of the 8th National Gallop, winning the cup as well as the 5 million HUF cash prize and an original Hungarian hussar sabre dated back to the mid-19th century.

There have been no discussions on the construction of a Turkish-funded new mosque in Budapest between the Hungarian and Turkish governments, the Prime Minister’s Office has disclosed. However, Gül Babah’s Turbeh, a 16th-century Muslim shrine in Budapest that is a popular tourist attraction, will be restored with Turkish support under a recent state agreement, it has been revealed.

A top tourism official has issued reassurances that Hungary remains safe and that local authorities can guarantee the security of all tourists who arrive in the country. Deputy state secretary for tourism Ádám Ruszinkó told reporters in front of Saint Stephen’s Basilica, in the city centre, that Budapest’s tourist attractions are far from areas affected by the refugee crisis.
