Internationally renowned Grammy and Emmy award winning American film composer, James Newton Howard, announced today that he will appear at Budapest Sportaréna on 5 November 2017 as part of his first ever live concert tour in November 2017, with a program that will celebrate and commemorate highlights from three decades of film scoring for Hollywood.

Thanks to the recently reformed Hungarian film funding system, the jury selecting the Hungarian nominee for the American Film Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film is to sample a crop of 20 films this year, the director of the Hungarian Film Fund told public television.

The American film academy, best known for giving the prestigious Academy Award for cinematic achievement, invited a record 774 people to join its ranks this year. Seven Hungarians are among those invited, the website Variety said.
