Nobel laureate author Imre Kertész died at age 86 after a long and serious illness, the publisher Magvető said. The novelist, essayist and translator was the first Hungarian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, becoming a Nobel laureate in 2002.
'Fresh Meat' International Short Film Festival, Now On

The 4th Friss Hús International Short Film Festival opened on the 30th of March at Toldi cinema in downtown Budapest, and runs until 3rd April. The selection contains Hungarian and international short films from the last year. All the short films will be screened with English subtitles.

Zsófi spent her formative years in Eger with her two brothers, teacher mother and folk dancer – choreographer father. After taking leading roles in the student and cultural life of the city for years, she continued her studies in adult & continuing education and event management in Debrecen. She moved to Budapest in 2013 right after finishing her master’s degree.

A total of 270 titles will compete to win prizes in six categories at the 2nd Hungarian Film Week beginning on Tuesday, the organisers said. The awarding ceremony for best feature-length, short, television, documentary, educational and animated film will be held on March 6.
