The Association of Hungarian Hotels is urging changes in the law so that owners of private condos offered for rent should meet the same registration requirements as hotels and hospitality facilities, according to a report by news portal index.hu. Such regulations would significantly hurt how Airbnb does its business here in Hungary.
Home Building Permit Issues More Than Double In H1

The number of home building permits issued in Hungary in the first half of 2016 rose by 137.2% year-on-year to 13,236, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reports. The number of home building permits issued in Budapest rose by 190.5% to 3,745. In county seats and cities with over 50,000 residents, the number climbed 175.3% to 3,837.

A tax officer was stabbed to death while his partner was seriously injured in southeast Budapest. According to a joint statement from the economy ministry and tax authority NAV, the two officers were doing their job when they were attacked.
