Hungarian opposition parties have urged the government to take measures in light of the international offshore scandal dubbed “Panama Papers”. The radical nationalist Jobbik party insisted that lawmakers with ties to offshore companies should be stripped of their mandates. MPs should sign affidavits that they have no ties with offshore companies, Jobbik lawmaker György Szilágyi said.

Moody’s could raise Hungary’s sovereign rating to investment grade on Friday, but chances are better the ratings agency will wait till later this year for an upgrade, analysts told MTI. Moody’s is scheduled to make an announcement on a review of Hungary’s “Ba1” sovereign rating, which is one notch under investment grade, after 10pm on Friday, local time.
Central Bank Keeps Base Rate On Hold, As Expected

The National Bank of Hungary’s Monetary Council decided to keep the central bank’s key rate on hold at 1.35% at a policy meeting. The decision was in line with analysts’ expectations. The Council has kept the base rate on hold since signalling an end to an easing cycle at a policy meeting in July 2015.

The promenade named after Lantos connects Viza and Révész streets. Addressing the event in the 13th district where Lantos used to live, US Ambassador Colleen Bell said Lantos had done much to benefit Hungary and had been proud of being Hungarian.

György Barcza noted that the ÁKK’s issue plan for this year includes 1 billion euros in FX bonds to be subscribed by international investors.
