Budapest’s Municipal Council will no longer assume any responsibility for the delay in the third metro line’s upgrade, Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós said on Friday. A Hungarian-British business council will be formed at the Hungarian embassy in London, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced yesterday. He told the Hungarian-British business forum organised by the Budapest Chamber of Commerce that the new council will co-ordinate the presence of Hungarian companies on the UK market and that of British companies in Hungary.

Socialist Budapest deputy Csaba Horváth said that instead of supporting the Olympic bid, the Budapest Assembly should address the issue of the capital’s “broken-down hospitals and abandoned schools”.
