The Budapest Spring Festival will this year feature John Malkovich, Goran Bregović, and programmes marking the anniversary of the 1867 Austro-Hungarian Compromise and Zoltán Kodály’s death, the organisers said on Wednesday. Returning to the festival, Malkovich will perform a new piece for theatre and music scripted by German author Michael Sturminger.

This production is a dance theatre adaptation of Ken Kesey's seminal cult novel, which both depicts the reality of life in the mental institution that serves as its setting and also has the reader confront a deeper meaning: the mechanism of how a dictatorship works: with the infinite evil and cynicism that a ruling power uses to manipulate people and makes them helpless.

This is the Budapest festival for Csángó Hungarians, and the event has international connections as The Pro Minoritate Foundation and the Csángó Cultural Association of Moldva are involved with organising this uniquely colourful and entertaining festival at Millenáris Park on Saturday, 18th February at 19.00.

The Indian Embassy in Budapest told XpatLoop.com they heartily invite all dance lovers to the performances of a Padmashree award winning dancer Pratibha Prahlad. The artist is performing around Hungary with her 13-member group between 11-16 February, and will dance in Budapest at the Central European University on Monday.
