The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (TASZ) did not hold consultations with the ombudsman’s office on the timing of a report about a scrapped needle-exchange programme in Budapest, the union’s drugs-policy expert said on Monday.

The first Budapest Half Marathon was organised in 1984. During the last 29 years the race grew up into a major event in Budapest with 12 850 runners. 8500 runners on the individual 21 km distance, while others run in pairs or run the shorter distances. Budapest Half Marathon also became a real international event with almost 1600 runners from abroad, from 65 different countries in 2013.
Hungary’s NBH Comments Luxury Office Building Purchase

The National Bank of Hungary (NBH) has purchased the Eiffel Palace office building, located in the centre of Budapest, for EUR 45.3m not including VAT, in order to exploit the advantages from the property investment, the NBH told MTI. The NBH also said the purchase could have a positive effect on the bank’s results.

A new section of the Iron Curtain cycling trail was inaugurated by Hungarian and Austrian politicians on Tuesday, the day marking the 25th anniversary of the Pan- European Picnic in western Hungary. Organised by the opposition, the picnic took place at Sopronpuszta close to the Austrian border on this day 25 years ago. The event paved the way for the fall of the Iron Curtain.
