After several years of dynamic growth, Hungary’s online retail trade volume continued to rise in 2015. Surpassing the psychological limit of HUF 300 billion (~EUR 963 million) for the first time, the net turnover reached HUF 319 billion (~ EUR 1024 million). In a poll conducted recently by online news portal origo.hu, 85% of the siteʼs readers said they support the reopening of stores on Sundays, but government friendly daily Magyar Idők reported today that the increase in payroll resulting from the Sunday reopenings may have to be passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.

Retail sales in Hungary could come close to 10,000 billion forints this year, the chief secretary of the National Association of Commerce (OKSZ) told public television.
