Following EU approval on December 16 of the bank’s consolidation plan, MKB leaders have decided “to focus significantly greater attention on action against those in breach of banking confidentiality to comply with the letter and the spirit of the law,” the bank said.

A legal dispute has emerged over ownership of Hungary’s second biggest commercial television broadcaster. On 15 October, Magyar Broadcasting Co signed a contract with TV2 Media Group Holdings and CEE Broadcasting Holding to purchase a 100% stake in their businesses. TV2’s portfolio includes the television channels TV2, Super TV2, FEM3 and PRO4.

The European Parliament’s legal committee on Wednesday heard MEP Béla Kovács, of the radical nationalist Jobbik party, behind closed doors in a case involving the potential suspension of his immunity.
