It is expected that McDaniel College, based in the US state of Maryland, will be the first non-European-Union higher-education institution to have fulfilled the conditions set down in Hungary’s new higher-education law, a government official said.

The government’s public education roundtable will meet on Tuesday to discuss introducing a 9th grade in the country’s elementary schools, reports 24.hu, citing a press conference held Monday by the undersecretary for education.

The performance of the economy is such that the government is considering introducing a public holiday on Good Friday, the minister of human resources said at a meeting of the National Economic and Social Council. Zoltán Balog noted at the event on Thursday that the same initiative had been made four years ago but now the conditions were in place to allow such a move.
