Hungary’s film industry commissioner Andy Vajna has signed a contract to buy Hungarian commercial television channel TV2, and, after signing by the sellers, the deal will be announced later this week, figyelo.hu, the website of weekly Figyelő reported. The new sports channel M4, launched in July, is costing Ft 5.4 billion. Due to the rising costs, the government will assume Ft 47.2 billion of debts from state media. MTVA’s budget for this year is Ft 80 billion.

The European Commission has lifted a ban on the disbursement of European Union economic development funding to Hungary, daily Magyar Idők reported. With a resolution dated September 23, the Brussels commission closed a probe affecting funding worth about 700 billion forints (EUR 2.24bn), the paper said on Saturday.

High vacancy rates are expected to persist in Budapest, as well as Amsterdam, Dublin, Madrid, Prague and Warsaw, global real estate advisor CBRE said in an announcement today. Rental growth, however, is still expected in these markets as empty stock becomes economically redundant due to outdated design or location issues, the announcement said.
