Hundreds Of GP Practices Permanently Unfilled In Hungary

According to data published by the National Health Insurance Fund, 352 general practitioner’s and 284 dentist’s practices are “permanently unfilled” in Hungary, daily Világgazdaság said. The number of GPs fell by 6.6%, from 5,159 to 4,817, between 2000 and 2015.

Budapest’s Szabadság (Freedom) square hosted a novel demonstration of sorts Saturday evening. Starting at 5:30 pm and lasting until 10 pm, the “We will not remain silent!” protest featured musical performances by a variety of musicians and DJs, as well as speeches by notable artists and activists. As many as 10,000 people mostly in their twenties and thirties attended.

Veronika Wynne-Hughes plans to be the first Hungarian to ski from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole, between November this year and January 2018. She told public news channel M1 that she plans to cover around 1,140kms solo, pulling her belongings on a sledge during the day and sleeping in a tent at night.

A survey conducted by health-care research firm Szinapszis Kft. has found that the giving and accepting of so-called gratuity money – unauthorized rewards given to doctors and nurses in exchange for preferential medical care – is considered to be a crime by 80 percent of Hungarians.

In 1986 I joined the Postás Sports Club and then, through a scholarship, continued in the USA with the University of Minnesota’s gymnastics team. It was there that I concluded my active career in elite sport.
