March 15 square hosts Hungary's biggest Fan Centre, where supporters get the chance to watch the 31st Olympic Games on a 35-square-meter screen. Entry is free of charge and it's open from 3 to 11pm on weekdays, and from 10am during weekends during the Olympics, with uninterrupted sports broadcasts (in Hungarian) and various 'fun activities' at one of the city's best locations near the Danube.

The Sziget Festival, held on a Danube island in Budapest, opens on Wednesday with Rihanna, the Muse and Manu Chao featuring in its line-up, the organisers said. Besides Rihanna, whose concert on Thursday has been sold out, David Guetta, the Chemical Brothers, Sia and Noel Gallagher will also bring their acts during the week-long festival.

My first thought was that the reason for this unexpected enthusiasm for a woman to lead the country is the undeniable failure of the Hungarian political elite in the last 25 years.

The green opposition LMP and the Liberal Party spoke out against a clause in Hungary’s election law that says Hungarians who have a permanent address in the country but are abroad on the day of an election or referendum can only vote at a Hungarian embassy or consular office near them but allows ethnic Hungarians living beyond the border to vote by mail.
