Hungary’s central bank is all but certain to cut the base rate by another 20 basis points at its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday, London-based analysts have said. It appears more and more likely that its policy rate will be brought to below 3% by the end of its current easing cycle, they said on Monday.

The number of smokers in Hungary has fallen dramatically thanks to government measures taken to protect non-smokers in the past few years, state secretary for health Miklós Szócska said. A recent survey shows that while 28% of the adult population used to smoke on a daily basis in 2012, that ratio dropped to 19% in 2013.
