Hungary ranked low among EU member states as regards learning two or more foreign languages in secondary school, a survey conducted by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, showed. In Hungary only 6.3% of secondary school students aged between 11 and 14 learned two or more foreign languages, similar to Austria where their proportion was 9.5%, the survey conducted in 2014 showed.

The US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has nominated Hungarian director László Nemes Jeles’s film Son of Saul for an Academy Award in the best foreignlanguage film category.
