Tourism ties with China are expanding and will play a role in the “One Belt, One Road” project aimed at intensifying international economic relations, Economy Minister Mihaly Varga said on Wednesday. The number of guest nights spent in Hungarian hotels and guesthouses went up by an annual 3.8% to 2,247,000 in May, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Tourism has proven successful as one of the driving forces of the national economy: between 1 January and 31 May, 3.4 million tourists spent a total of 7.9 million guest nights at commercial accommodation establishments.
