More information on the extra fares payable for travelling on fast trains was revealed by Development Ministry state secretary for infrastructure Pál Völner on Tuesday. A new development is that people aged under 6 and over 65 years of age, who are otherwise entitled to free rail travel, will only be able to use the affected trains if they buy a monthly pass for Ft 1,500.

Although the ministry did not declare its policy explicitly, fares for bus travel will be more expensive than on the same routes covered by train, Népszabadság writes.
