Event Review: Historic Opening Of Continental Hotel Zara In Budapest

On the evening of Wednesday 22 September around 500 formally dressed guests attended the official opening ceremony of the Continental Hotel Zara in Budapest. This listed-building has recently received Euro 50 million worth of renovations to create a blend of art nouveau; art deco and modern design, all of which still manages to respect the tradition of the first baths built on this site in 1827.

"Hungary’s "freeing itself from the IMF" is one step forward towards the nation’s self-determination, said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. When the country’s stand-by arrangement with the Fund expires in October, Hungary will have no business with the lender, he added. Orbán stressed that the salary of the central bank’s chief is a sovereign issue and neither the EU, nor the IMF has a say in it.
