Markus Goldson, Ari Kupsus Gallery, Budapest, 7 September
"Ari Kupsus Gallery opens an exhibition of works by Marcus Goldson on September 7, 2010, which will be on view until October 2, 2010. The show focuses on Marcus’ searing black humor with which he captures scenes of everyday life in Budapest. As a gifted watercolourist, Marcus paints directly from his own observation, instilling his works with irony, imagination, and a great eye to detail.

Marcus Goldson, a Brit born in Kenya, has been living in Hungary since 1993 and this show represents a major retrospective on his work in the city he calls home. Curator of the show, art historian Jeff Taylor, says that "In the last 20 years Marcus is the artist who I believe best captured contemporary Budapest with an affectionate and lyrical honesty.”

The gallery hosting the exhibition bears the name of its owner, Mr Ari Kupsus, a Finnish entrepreneur living in Hungary for 11 years, whose activities in Budapest include the running of various charity programs supporting young talent both in the world of music and the fine arts.

His gallery shows contemporary art in an interior comprised of early 19th-century antiques, achieving a distinct totality of ambiance. The exhibition will be opened at 18:00, September 7, 2010."
