British American Tobacco is to increase production capacity with an investment of 3 billion forints (EUR 9.5m) at its plant in Pécs, in southern Hungary, creating 200 new jobs, Péter Szijjártó, the trade and foreig affairs minister, said. Szijjártó noted that Hungary’s investment promotion agency HIPA is in talks with another seven British companies on further investments.

Claims by policy holders on damages resulting from storms that swept through Hungary July 12-14 could come to an estimated HUF 1bn, the Hungarian Insurers Association (MABISZ) said. MABISZ said that association members have received more than 10,000 damage claims with most of them filed in West and North West Hungary.
