Guest nights in Hungary rose by 6.7% to 2,208,499 in September from the same month a year earlier, a release by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) showed. Guest nights spent by Hungarians increased by 5.8% to 919,314 and nights spent by foreign guests were up by 7.3% at 1,289,185. Most of the buyers of Hungary’s residency bonds have been Chinese, Interior Minister Sándor Pintér said in response to a written question he received from an opposition lawmaker. Under the scheme, foreign nationals buying 300,000 euros worth of government bonds can obtain a residency permit that can be extended for five years and allows its holder to travel freely in the Schengen zone.
