This concert presents two excellent Turkish musicians and introduces Turkish music to the audiences. Composed by Ahmed Adnan Saygun, the ‘Bartók of Turkey’ in 1975, Ritual Dance melts elements of Western music and Turkish authentic folk music in a unique way.

Despite her young age, Moscow-born Alexandra Soumm is one of the most renowned and sought-after soloists today. She won the in-house competition of the Vienna Conservatory in 2002, before going on to win the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Lucerne in 2004. At her Budapest debut, she will play one of the most popular works in the violin concerto repertoire.

The emblematic orchestral works of the late Romantic period, Richard Strauss’s symphonic poems, and the symphonies of Bruckner and Mahler all enjoy a special place in the repertoire of the Hungarian National Philharmonic.
