Attila Ambrus, the man who gained fame as the “Whisky Robber” in the 1990s, was released from prison this Tuesday. Ambrus stole a total of Ft 196 million from 28 banks, post offices and travel agencies from January 23, 1993 and October 18, 1999 after moving from Transylvania to Hungary.

He completed his legal studies in the Collegium Juridicum, Foglarianum in Eger, and obtained his doctoral degree in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca).
