Hungary’s biggest winter birdwatching event, the 25th Wild Goose Festival, will take place on 29 November on the shores of Old Lake (Öreg-tó) in Tata, north-western Hungary. Each year, thousands of visitors gather to witness the breath-taking sight of tens of thousands of wild geese taking off and landing on the lake — a spectacle that marks one of the highlights of Hungary’s nature calendar.

The Autumn Cultural Festival of the University of Szeged (SZTE) began on Wednesday 1 October, with the opening of an exhibition of nature photographs, concerts and light painting, during which three hundred, mostly free, programs await those interested in seventy locations over two months.

The Cinemira International Children’s Film Festival is Hungary’s only event dedicated to films for children and teenagers. This year, the festival expands to two weekends to reach a wider young audience. Cinemira TEEN takes place from October 8-10 at Akvárium Club in central Budapest, while Cinemira KIDS, for ages 4 to 12, will be held on October 23-24 at Millennium Park.
