The issuance of biometric passports started 10 years ago, on August 29, 2006, the office said. These passports include a chip with the holder’s photograph on it, which is biometric information, and other data which is also shown printed in the document.

Hungary’s Foreign Ministry has asked Hungarians to exercise caution if travelling to Turkey after the bombing in Istanbul which claimed 36 lives and injured nearly 150 on Tuesday. The consular services of the ministry issued a notice on Wednesday in which it suggests that tourists check their travel arrangements as many flights are cancelled.
