Hungary Lags Behind In Foreign Language Learning

Hungary ranked low among EU member states as regards learning two or more foreign languages in secondary school, a survey conducted by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, showed. In Hungary only 6.3% of secondary school students aged between 11 and 14 learned two or more foreign languages, similar to Austria where their proportion was 9.5%, the survey conducted in 2014 showed.
Cold Halts Budapest Esztergom Trains

The cold weather caused technical problems and long delays on the recently renovated Budapest-Esztergom train line on Monday. Trains full of passengers on their way to work and school were left stranded on the approach to Budapest.
Popular Hungarian Bandleader Benkó Dies

Clarinet player Sándor Benkó, founder of the popular Benkó Dixieland Band, died on Tuesday at the age of 75, his family announced. Benkó started the group while a high school student in 1957. Its first album was certified a gold disc. The band toured the world, took part in many music festivals and received numerous awards. The band has no fewer than 1,800 professional recordings.

Four-fifths of Hungarians would like to see the government spend less money on football stadiums, Socialist Party executive committee member Balázs Bárány told reporters on Monday, citing a new survey. In all, 77% of respondents to a survey by the Publicus Institute commissioned by Vasárnapi Hírek said they have never been to a first division football game, and 88% do not plan to do so.

I work in Hungary since 2008, when the Italian professional studio ITL Group decided to create Economia.hu, the online magazine in Italian language about Hungarian economy and bilateral relations. Budapest entered in my life and it seems like it got stuck in my heart.

Zsófia began her career at Britannica International School in 1999 as a French teacher and then started to teach EAL to various levels and age groups. She also did two years of postgraduate studies in Law at ELTE while working at Britannica. She then moved to France and worked there at an international school in Lyon, teaching mainly EAL to primary and secondary students along with some French.
