The Minister for National Economy is about to start negotiations with credit- and financial institutions active in the field of domestic lending. Minister Varga said that in the opinion of the Government foreign currency denominated mortgages for home purchases need to be eliminated from the domestic lending market in a way which “takes into consideration the aspects of timing and burden-bearing”.

The Constitutional Court yesterday struck down lower court rulings which rejected a request for access to data related to an audit of the State Opera. Tamás Bodoky, editor of the transparency website Atlatszo.hu, asked the National Resources Ministry for access to a report by a ministerial commissioner on the audit of the Opera two years ago.

For most of its 25+ year history on the F1 calendar, the tight and twisting bowl-shaped track on the outskirts of Budapest came with the reputation of regularly hosting complete snoozefests.
