Take Public Transport From Budapest To Hungaroring & Avoid Congestion
The Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix takes place on the Hungaroring racetrack in Mogyoród near Budapest. To ensure a more convenient travel experience, BKK Centre for Budapest Transport provides higher capacities on suburban railway line H8 and additionally offers special fares.

How to get to the Hungaroring by public transport

The venue of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, the Hungaroring racetrack, is best reached from Budapest by suburban railway line H8 to Gödöllő. Additionally, regional bus company Volánbusz operates special bus lines between Árpád híd metro station and Mogyoród, Templom tér. For further details, please enquire from Volánbusz.

Please note that only H8 suburban trains going to Gödöllő will take you to the Hungaroring, trains going to Cinkota and Csömör do not serve the Hungaroring. From the Szilasliget stop Gates 3, 4, 5 and 6 are a walking distance away. To enter through Gates 1, 2, 7 and 8 get off at Mogyoród stop from where a direct bus line will take you. The gates are also reachable on foot from both Szilasliget and Mogyoród stops by a 2.5-km-long walk (35-40 minutes).

Suburban railway line H8- departs from Örs vezér tere. To reach Örs vezér tere

from Buda and the city centre take metro line M2
from North and South Pest take tram line 3 or buses

H8 suburban trains to Gödöllő run with the following frequencies from Örs vezér tere:

every 30 minutes on Thursday and Friday morning
every 10-20 minutes on Thursday and Friday afternoon and during the peak hours
every 30 minutes on Thursday and Friday evening
every 30 minutes at the weekend

Additionally, bus operator Volánbusz is commissioned by the organisers to operate a shuttle service between Árpád híd metro station and Mogyoród, Templom tér as well as between Mogyoród H suburban railway stop and Mogyoród, Templom tér free of charge for Grand Prix ticket holders. Longer trains

In order to prevent overcrowding, suburban railway line H8 will be operating double-length trainsets during the afternoon peak hours on 25 and 26 July as well as from 7:00 to 20:00 on 27 and 28 July.

Discount fares on suburban railway

On the three days of the Grand Prix (26-27-28 July 2013), valid Budapest 24-hour, 24-hour group and 72-hour travelcards, Budapest Cards and 5/30 tickets will be accepted on suburban railway line H8 for a longer route, all the way to Mogyoród, with no need for buying extension tickets. Please note that other types of tickets and passes still require an extension ticket.
