Survey: Quarter Of Hungarians Poor Or At Risk Of Social Exclusion

In 2016, 2.46 million people in Hungary were either poor or at the risk of social exclusion, or 25.6 percent of the population, according to a Central Statistical Office (KSH) report. Data released on Friday shows that poverty and social exclusion eased by 0.7 percentage points compared with 2015.

Erzsébet Schmuck, LMP’s deputy group leader, cited Eurostat figures at a press conference held on Tuesday, saying that Hungary’s consumption stood at 63 percent of the European Union average.
