German construction company ECE has won government approval to build a 55,000m2 shopping mall in Budapest’s Third District, Figyel Online has learned. The Aquincum Center project, still in the conceptual phase, received an exemption from the ban on the construction of shopping malls.

In the summer of 2013 heritage train services are not scheduled at the Children's Railway for a two-month period from mid June. After Sunday, 16th June, not regarding the services in the evening of Saturday, 22nd June on the occasion of the Long Night of Museums, steam engine services and heritage railcar services are scheduled to resume only on Saturday, 17th August.

As we know only too well, teachers’ salaries are extremely low in Hungary and teachers haven’t had a raise since the 2008 financial crisis. Given the fairly high inflation rate, at least until recently, the already very low living standards of teachers have further deteriorated in the last five years.

This week I visited the Humana second hand shop on Szent István boulevard, between Jászai Mari square and Nyugati railway station. I’ve heard a lot about this one, so I decided to give it a go. You can spot it from quite the distance, thanks to its yellow signs. The shop window gave a promising look, so I’ve entered with high hopes and immediate disappointment followed.
