Plans to build a waste incinerator at Heiligenkreuz, Austria, just a few hundred metres from Szentgotthárd, have been scrapped, it was announced on Thursday. Michael Gerbavsits, spokesman for Energie Burgenland, said economic changes in recent years have rendered the project unviable and it no longer fits the company’s business strategy.

Some 250 people working for state-owned media outlets will be dismissed in the first week of December, Népszabadság reports. More than 30 will be dismissed from the news agency MTI, 80 from Magyar Rádió and nearly 140 from MTV and Duna TV. State media manager MTVA announced in late October that it was preparing to dismiss 250-260 staff.
