The average unemployment rate among Hungarians between the ages of 15 and 74 was 8% in April-June, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. The jobless rate was unchanged from March-May and down from 10.3% in the same period a year earlier. The number of unemployed averaged 358,900 in April-June.

At 308.96 to the euro early Tuesday, the forint moved between 308.77 and 311.31, a ten-day low. The number of permits issued for new home construction rose by 17.9% to 4,009 in the first half of 2014, fresh data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show. New permits were issued for a total area of 453,000sqm, up 13.9%. The number of new home completions rose 21.8% to 3,265 in the first half of this year.
