Miskolc University Gets EUR 10.3 Million Supercomputer

The University of Miskolc (N Hungary) has inaugurated a supercomputer, purchased from European Union funding of 3.2 billion forints (EUR 10.3m), on Tuesday. The universities of Debrecen (E Hungary) and Szeged (S Hungary) already have supercomputers, with the first one inaugurated in Debrecen in 2011.

Magyar Telekom will invest in broadband internet connections for 230,000 Hungarian households as part of a deal that EU subsidies are not given for geographically parallel investments by other firms. Economy state secretary Ákos Kara told journalists that the Hungarian unit of Deutsche Telekom will build the networks with speeds of at least 30 Mbit/s by April 15, 2018.
