The Museum of Fine Arts’ Department of Prints and Drawings preserves close to 600 lithographs by the outstanding French graphic artist, Daumier. In 2009 tender funds granted by the National Cultural Foundation enabled the urgently needed preservation work for the sheets. The Human Resources Ministry has invited bids for the post of director of the National Theatre, as the five-year term of present director Róbert Alföldi will end next spring. The new director can start work on July 1, 2013 for five years.

My piece draws on the book of Esther. The book tells the story of how the Jewish-born Esther might have lived as a member of a people oppressed by the Persians, and later, concealing her origins, as the chosen one by the great world ruler Ahasuerus, as a queen of a foreign country.

The Jewish Summer Festival, which is traditionally held between the last Sunday in August and the first Sunday in September, is celebrating its 15-year jubilee this year. Fifteen years of age means the most beautiful time of adolescence in terms of human lifetime, so besides our classical programmes, we are planning some surprises to further increase the number of our young visitors.

Awards will be presented for Hungary’s best cake, sugar-free cake and ice cream. Pop music will play on Clark Ádám tér and on Bem tér from 8pm.
