Romania Plans To Open Refugee Camp Near Hungarian Border

The Romanian government is planning to open a refugee camp in Tășnad (Tasnád), in north-western Romania, some 30 kilometres from the border with Hungary, daily Magyar Idők said. The camp would provide accommodation to some 600, mainly Syrian refugees, despite protests from the town’s leaders and residents, the paper said.

The Hungarian Scientists Club was formally opened at the Hungarian embassy in London on Friday. Undersecretary Péter Prõhle and ambassador Péter Szabadhegy delivered opening speeches. Some 70 university professors and scientific co-workers founded the club with the chief aim of establishing contacts and presenting the results of Hungarian science in Great Britain.
