One hundred and twenty young people are attending the summer camp ReGeneration organised by the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice at Lake Balaton. The Beijing National Theatre troupe will give performances of the opera Red Rock at the Hungarian State Opera on Wednesday and Thursday. The company will present Chinese traditional culture in Budapest following performances in Vienna and Prague on a tour of Europe. Red Rock blends motifs from traditional Chinese opera, Far Eastern folk music and western music.

Hungarian mathematician Endre Szemerédi received the Abel Prize, the highest distinction that a mathematician may receive, from Norwegian King Harald V in Oslo on Tuesday. Harald called Szemerédi a “prince” of present-day mathematics. The prize comes with a cash award of six million Norwegian kroner (Ft 238 million).
