Several opposition parties have spoken out against Parliamentary Speaker László Kövér’s decision to equip the Parliamentary Guard with electroshock weapons or tasers. Although Roman Catholic he would say “yes” to restoring death penalty in a referendum, he said. “It must be decided what is more important: a couple of international agreements, or the life of Hungarian people,” Vona said.

Anti-corruption protests took place across Hungary today. In Budapest the demonstration started in front of the Eiffel Palace Office Building near the Nyugati (western) train station. A few minutes before the scheduled start of the protest it seemed as though police and members of the press would outnumber the protesters.
