Ever since the 1990's “empty orchestra,” or the phenomenon better known as karaoke, has spread all over the world from Japan, giving everyone interested the chance to become a self-proclaimed star. In European karaoke bars people sing in a larger hall in front of many people, Doremifa-ya in Budapest however has separate boxes to allow enthusiasts to experience how karaoke is meant to be done.

On Friday, 14 September the United Nations' Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will host high-profile events to honour Hungarian neuroscientist János Szentágothai and Hungarian-born British conductor Sir Georg Solti in Paris.

It has become a tradition in the course of the Budapest music competitions to organize every fith year an international violin competition named after the world-famous Hungarian violinist József Szigeti. A peculiarity of the event to take place in September 2012 is that both young violinists and viola players are invited to the competition.

With the support of the Szeged-Csanad Diocese and the Gal Ferenc College, the St. Gellert Festival is going to be organized for the 5th time between 21-30 September. The main purpose of the concert series, bearing the name of one of the first bishops of Hungary, is to invite the music loving audience of the region, and to express a strong connection between religion, music and spirituality.
