The small opposition Együtt and Dialogue parties are preparing to run a joint campaign for next year’s general election, their leaders announced. The parties have yet to commit to running a joint party list, as organisational aspects of the alliance will be worked out at a later time, Együtt and Dialogue leaders Péter Juhász and Tímea Szabó told a press conference after a meeting.

Bertalan Tóth (pictured), the Hungarian Socialist Party’s (MSZP) parliamentary group leader, announced on Wednesday that his party would boycott several state institutions and would stop availing itself of certain tools at its disposal as an opposition political party, although its parliamentary delegation will continue to attend parliamentary sessions.

Sausage Festival In Budapest, 13 - 15 October

This annual festival featuring 250 types of spiced up meat will be held at the Hungarian Railway Museum this year. As well as lots of porky specials available along several 'Sausage Streets', there will be family programs, folklore shows, 'nostalgic music programs' and dance, plus apparently presentations of enormous sausages, during this three day special Hungarian gastro event.

The government has ordered Democratic Coalition (DK) political billboard ads to be whitewashed nationwide, DK MEP Csaba Molnár said, adding that DK will sue the government offices which issued the relevant decrees. Referring to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the DK ads read: “Choose between Orbán and Europe”.
