Hungarian police took into custody one of the organisers of a “racist conference” that had been banned, the Immigration and Citizenship Office (BAH) said. The police detained Richard Bertrand Spencer, a citizen of the United States, on Friday after he could not produce documents permitting him to stay in Hungary.

Richard Spencer, the chief organiser of a racist conference planned to be held in Budapest last weekend, has left Hungary, dailies Népszava and Magyar Nemzet report, citing information from the Immigration and Citizenship Office (BÁH). Népszava said a procedure had been launched against Spencer, a citizen of the United States, for violating immigration and residence regulations.
