I have been cycling up to Romai Part and Szentendre for years, and have always loved the four water and coal-clock towers at the old gas works. Luckily they have managed to survive (so far) the reconstruction of the old chemical works as an industrial park. In 1908 a municipal decision was made to replace several obsolete gas factories with a single new facility.

He praised the company’s long-term commitment to Hungary, where this year it is investing nearly 3 billion forints (over 10 million euros) and creating new jobs.

Glastonbury’s founder, Michael Eavis was amongst the 379 thousand visitors, generously praising Sziget for being even more colourful than his own event. Besides celebrating the 20th edition, Sziget also welcomed its 6 millionth visitor this year.

German car parts manufacturer Kirchhoff has announced plans to invest Ft 2.7 billion in expanding its capacity in Hungary. The project, to be completed in 2014, will add 150 jobs to the present 350 at the factory in Esztergom, subsidiary CEO Szabolcs Solyom told reporters. The job creation receives Ft 716 million in subsidies.

Sanyo Hungary announced the elimination of 300 of the 1,100 jobs at its plant in Dorog, Komarom-Esztergom county as demand for the company's products abroad has shrunk. The layoffs will affect Sanyo’s Solar II plant, which produces solar cell panels, mainly for export.
