P&G invests HUF 72 Billion on Capacity Expansion in Hungary
America’s Procter and Gamble is investing HUF 72bn at its bases in Hungary, expanding production capacity, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó announced.

The company is carrying out four projects, which the Hungarian government is supporting with around HUF 18bn of funding, the minister said.

The firm is expanding capacity at its electric toothbrush plant in Gyongos (NE Hungary) and its feminine hygiene products plant in Csomor. A research and development project and a training project will also be implemented. The investments will create 200 jobs to complement the existing 2,000, he added.

Szijjarto noted that Procter and Gamble is present in 180 countries around the globe and the products made in Hungary are exported to more than 50 countries.

"Never before has so much American investment come to Hungary in a single year as this year. We will reach a total of HUF 190bn by the end of the year," the minister said and called cooperation with the US a key issue. Szijjarto said that the situation in this area was not good until last year, but everything changed with the inauguration of Donald Trump.

He noted that there are almost 1,500 American-owned companies operating in Hungary that employ more than 100,000 workers.

"In the past 11 years, the government has provided investment support to 145 American companies, bringing a total of HUF 860bn of investments to Hungary and creating 20,000 jobs," Szijjarto said.
