With the hot weather finally here, I have been making the rounds of the new beer gardens. I tried Otkert (Zrinyi u. 4, 5th district) a few weeks ago at about 5pm. The place is done up nice, and conveniently located without being overpriced for its location. However, it was deserted except for one other person at the bar and after waiting 10 minutes at the bar we still could not even get the blond ...

Gábor Galla graduated from the College of Hotel, Catering and Tourism in 1974, and obtained his doctorate at the Budapest University of Economics in 1981. During his studies he spent a year in Tanzania, where he was deputy general manager at Hallways Hotels Overseas Ltd. He has 30 years of experience in the tourism business.

The good news is that Hungarians tend to adore children. Everyone, it seems, from the little old lady in the grocery line to the tough-looking security guard makes a big fuss over children. Waiters are generally patient when it comes to dining with children, even when their crying doesn’t make them look so cute anymore. The bad news is that restaurants rarely have children’s menus.
