Hungary has reached another new milestone. As of Sunday, only four radio stations will broadcast nationally in Hungary, all of them state-run. Not since 1991 has radio been so one-sided, reports kreativ.hu.

The licence of radio station Class FM terminated on Saturday at midnight. The radio is now only accessible online. The media authority NMHH decided in August not to extend the licence of Class FM.

The four Visegrad Group countries are planning to launch a radio station at the start of next year, the head of Radio Poland told Hungarian public television M1. Barbara Stanislawczyk said the programmes to be broadcast in Polish, Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian would be aimed at presenting the cultures of the member countries and focusing on topical political issues.
