"The government will make the 98% tax on severance pay above a certain sum retroactive to 2005, under a proposal put forward yesterday by caucus leader János Lázár. The Constitutional Court struck down the 98% tax last month, in part because it had retroactive effect to the beginning of 2010.

Hungary has lost another one of its most talented Magyar sons this year with the passing away of the late Tony Curtis (age 85) on Sept 29, 2010. Bernard Swartz, alias Tony Curtis (also known as James Curtis and Anthony Curtis in the begining of his career, launched in 1949) was born to Jewish Hungarian immigrants (from Mateszalka, NE Hungary) in New York’s Bronx district on June 3, 1925.

This world famous Grammy-award winning singer will join a walk for charity over the Chain Bridge in Budapest to support Breast Cancer Awareness. This annual event was launched back in 2002 by then US Ambassador to Hungary Nancy Goodman Brinker.
