Stalls will showcase specialities and souvenirs from around the world, and Xpats are invited to enjoy food and drink from over 20 countries in the refreshment area. Parliament approved on Tuesday the government’s so-called autumn tax package targeting reducing the public burden, boosting competitiveness and streamlining the tax bureaucracy. The revenue limit applied to itemised tax for small business taxpayers will be raised, the exemption threshold for VAT will be similarly raised, while rules for health-care contributions will be simplified.

Lawmakers approved amendments to the 2016 budget act raising both revenue and expenditures by 421.7 billion forints (EUR 1.4bn). The amendments were passed with 121 votes in favour and 63 against. The MPs raised the revenue target from 15,800.4 billion forints to 16,222.1 billion forints. They increased the expenditure target from 16,562.0 billion forints to 16,983.7 billion forints.

Hungary’s budget is expected to run a cash-flow-based deficit of 1,166.4 billion forints (EUR 3.7bn) next year, well above the 761.6 billion gap targeted for 2016. The 2017 budget bill targets revenue of 17,374.9 billion forints and expenditures of 18,541.3 billion.
