Choral conductor Peter Broadbent and architect Sándor Váci have been awarded the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Officer’s Cross at an event marking the Day of Hungarian Culture in London. The awards granted at the Hungarian embassy are to recognise their work promoting Hungarian culture and Hungarian-British relations in the UK.

Richard Wagner‘s masterpiece returns to the Metropolitan Opera after a gap of more than a decade. In future churches should be registered by courts based on legal provisions, according to a consultation paper on the church law published online on kormany.hu. The law in effect since January 1, 2012 originally recognised only 14 congregations as established churches but allowed other faiths to apply to parliament for recognition, dependent on the vote of a two-thirds majority.
