Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called for efforts to ensure gas transports to central Europe, including Hungary, via Turkey. Hungary aims to get gas via Turkey and Serbia, Orbán said after talks with Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu. The two sides agreed that growing tension in Eurasia was undesirable.

A record number of 1.4 million people visited Hungary’s national parks in 2014. The number of visitors went up by 42,000 compared to 2013, the farm ministry said. The largest increase, 25%, was registered in the Bükk National Park in north-eastern Hungary.

The European Union has done “virtually nothing” to tackle problems concerning human rights laws and practices in Hungary, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report. The New York-based HRW called on the EU to take appropriate action and raised concern about the Hungary’s human rights record, stemming from “a raft of problematic laws and policies” initiated by the government.

According to a 2014 Europol report, the first signs of the present wave of terror were observed by secret services and investigative organisations as early as 2011.
